Split cylindrical roller bearings by SLB are mainly used in heavy engineering and metallurgical plants where axial mounting of the bearing would be impossible or too costly. The example is multiple-bearing shafts, crank shafts, long shafts, etc.
S GZ bearings by SLB (Fig. 1) feature a radially split outer ring, inner ring and cage. The bearings of the S GZF type are capable of accomodating both radial and axial forces. The bearings of the S GZL type are not intended for accomodating axial forces. The outer rings of the S GZ bearings are housed in a split housing with a spherical outside surface allowing for its tilting.
The split bearings by SLB (Fig. 2) have a radially split outer ring, inner ring, cage and sleeve attached to the retaining rings of the inner ring. The massive bearing cage is made of brass. Both halves of the cage are jointed so as to withstand the dynamic forces acting on the cage during operation, mainly in crank shaft assemblies. The split bearings by SLB are capable of accomodating
both radial and axial forces.
The dividing gap in the outer and inner ring of the bearing is at an angle to the axis of the bearing so that smooth rolling action of the roller is ensured.
